Lotus 72D v1.0 (0.38.x)
The Lotus 72D was one of the standout Formula One cars of the early 1970s. It is best known for being driven by Emerson Fittipaldi during Lotus's championship-winning 1972 season. Visually, it appeared lower, sharper, and more modern than many of its rivals. Its wedge-shaped bodywork, side-mounted radiators, inboard brakes, and compact layout were all designed to improve aerodynamics, balance, and packaging. It was powered by a 3.0-liter Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine producing around 420 hp at approximately 10,000 rpm, and weighed about 550 kg.
On the track, the 72D was light, responsive, aerodynamically efficient for its era, and demanding at the limit. It rewards smooth and precise driving and is highly unforgiving of abrupt inputs. Its design helped lay the foundation for the next generation of Formula One cars.
Note:
Keyboard control is not recommended. This car requires smooth and precise brake, throttle, and steering inputs, while keyboard controls provide very little feedback.
Model and sound: Project CARS 2
